I am Chandru, but everyone calls me Chan. I was born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in 1978 and grew up in a humble family, but one full of values such as effort, unity, and hard work. Although music was not seen as a serious option in my family, that led me to constantly strive to prove its worth. This need to defend music as an art has marked my life, developing in me a strong perseverance, although some prefer to call it “stubbornness.”
My passion for music began at the age of 13 when a teacher taught me to feel and enjoy it in a way I had never experienced before. Soon, I inherited a guitar, and that was the starting point of my musical journey. Despite suffering from severe stage fright during my early concerts, I decided to confront my fears by joining an amateur theater group. That experience helped me overcome my nerves and improve my confidence on stage.
Although I initially studied Telecommunications Engineering, I dropped out of the program to pursue my true passion: music. I began training in Music Education and taking lessons, dedicating between seven and eight hours a day to my learning. By the age of 22, I was already making a living from music, teaching classes and performing concerts.
At the age of 26, I made an important decision: I moved to Madrid in search of new opportunities and a more stimulating musical environment. Although it was a drastic change, Madrid allowed me to grow and explore new facets as a musician. In 2011, I began sharing content on YouTube to help my students, which ultimately became a much larger platform than I ever imagined.
